Creating the Culture of the Future:
The Six Principles of Evolutionary Enlightenment

A 9-Day Intensive in Tuscany, Italy, August 1-10, 2008

Discover how we can create a new consciousness and culture together on this intensive with visionary spiritual teacher and cultural pioneer Andrew Cohen.

Join Andrew Cohen for 9 days in Tuscany, Italy, as you and a committed group of fellow change agents explore a new vision for humanity. This event marks the first time that Andrew Cohen will present his teaching of Evolutionary Enlightenment with a focused emphasis on what he considers the goal of that work—the emergence the Six Principles of Evolutionary Enlightenment.

On this Six Principles Intensive, you will discover:

  • How we can create a new culture, founded on enlightened consciousness and higher values
  • How you can contribute to a positive future through your own transformation and ongoing development
  • Why we find it so difficult to consistently evolve and come together with others
  • What is required for you to make the shift from experiencing powerful spiritual insights to actually building a new and more evolved culture between us
  • The miraculous and life-changing potential revealed through the Six Principles, and how each of us plays an important role in actualizing that potential

How a New World Is Born

If you are someone who cares about creating a better future for humanity, you revere the rare and brave individuals who have catalyzed massive shifts in consciousness and culture. Some of the most distinguished of these revolutionary idealists and architects of a new future, such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., had to pay the ultimate price for dedicating their entire lives to transforming what it means to be a human being.

Their profound sacrifice, humbling dedication, and unceasing effort are endlessly inspiring. Yet perhaps their individual efforts represent only part of the process that leads to real cultural change. As Andrew Cohen writes in the spring 2007 issue of What Is Enlightenment? magazine:

“Throughout history, there have always been rare and extraordinary individuals who were trailblazers, out ahead of everyone else, but new stages of cultural development are not individuals. They are intersubjective structures that are created in consciousness as human beings come together having transcended old value systems and worldviews and created new ones.” — Andrew Cohen

Indeed, while their individual efforts are invaluable to the progression of humanity, if those of us who are in a position to make a difference want to create a better future, we must find a way to come together in a profoundly new way.

The Six Principles of Evolutionary Enlightenment

Though the thought of individuals coming together beyond the limits of ego and self-centeredness to create a new culture may seem utopian or far too overwhelming, Andrew Cohen has been working tirelessly for over 20 years to realize this very goal—and he has achieved significant and recognizable breakthroughs along the way.

Throughout his career, Andrew and his international network of practitioners of Evolutionary Enlightenment have devoted consistent time and energy to create the very consciousness needed to actualize a dramatically higher stage in our spiritual, moral, and philosophical values systems. When individuals experience this level of consciousness, in groups both large and small, they discover a new possibility for the way human beings can relate to each other.

That possibility is what Andrew refers to as the Six Principles of Evolutionary Enlightenment. This summer, for nine days, in the beautiful hills of Tuscany, Italy, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the perspective and methodology of Evolutionary Enlightenment. Through a structured investigation, you will be able to dive deeply into the heart of the Six Principles, discovering how they work and how you can use them with others to actually create the future.

The Six Principles of Evolutionary Enlightenment: A Brief Overview

The emergence of the Six Principles is the goal of the teaching of Evolutionary Enlightenment. They are the very ground and unambiguous manifestation of the new consciousness and the new world that we can create through a radical individual and collective transformation. They can be broken down into three pairs: purity of motive & integrity in action; autonomy & communion; and evolutionary tension & natural hierarchy.

Purity of motive is an egoless impulse, a wholesome passion to create that which is new. Yet unless we act upon that egoless impulse, its presence in consciousness ends up being only another spiritual experience, a momentary glimpse of our own potential for a deeper care. Purity of motive must always be actualized so that it becomes integrity in action. That simply means that the individual consistently follows through on that pure motive. And that takes a heroic spirit.

Autonomy is radical independence and authenticity. It is the expression of pure creative freedom—the powerful, unrestricted freedom of the individual to flower in his or her own potential without limit. Communion is the intoxicating experience of the authentic self recognizing itself in others—the many coming together as One in egoless freedom and infinite potential, uninhibited by any sense of separation.

Evolutionary Tension is the experiential quality of the new consciousness that is liberated between individuals who come together in the authentic self. It is an upward pull, a profound sense of urgency to bring into manifestation that which has not yet occurred. Natural Hierarchy is an egoless structure, defined only by actual differences between individuals' relative levels of development and experience. If each individual was embracing the demand of evolutionary tension, a genuine natural hierarchy would become manifest—a hierarchy defined not by the ego's motives of power and control, but by the authentic self's desire to develop.

On the Six Principles Intensive, Andrew Cohen will guide you into this profound and powerful shared experience of higher consciousness. He will direct you into a focused inquiry into the dynamics and potential of this spiritual scaffolding. During these nine days, you will:

  • Learn how the perspective of the Six Principles can change the way you relate to others and to the world.
  • Experience a new state of consciousness you will share with the other participants on the intensive.
  • Explore the qualities of this consciousness and the ways that those qualities affect our ability to respond to the world around us.
  • Leave with a new sense of possibility for humanity—and a clear map for how to make that potential a reality.

As you can see, the Six Principles Intensive is a rare, profound, and—for anyone interested in the cutting-edge of cultural change and conscious evolution—essential opportunity to both experience a new and deeply transformative level of consciousness and learn how to facilitate its emergence in the world.
