Travel directions to Hotel Demidoff
Hotel Demidoff, the site of Andrew Cohen’s 2007 summer residential intensive, is located in the hills above Florence, near a small village called Pratolino.
Traveling by bus, train, and taxi:
The nearest airport is the Amerigo Vespucci Airport in Florence. Other nearby airports are in Pisa, to the west of Florence, and in Bologna, north of Florence.
From whatever airport you arrive, the simplest thing to do is to take a train, bus, or taxi to Florence’s Stazione Centrale (central train station) and from there take a taxi up to the Hotel Demidoff.
From Pisa to Florence: Trains depart directly to Florence from the airport in Pisa. Alternatively you can take a taxi or bus from the airport to the main train station in Pisa, a five-minute trip, for more departures. There are also privately run buses that leave the Pisa airport and go directly to Florence’s central train station.
From Bologna to Florence: There is public bus service from the airport to Bologna’s Stazione Centrale, from which trains depart regularly to Florence.
Once at the Stazione Centrale in Florence, take a taxi to Hotel Demidoff, about a 20-minute drive, which will cost approximately €35. Tell the taxi driver you wish to be taken to the Hotel Demidoff near Pratolino.
Traveling by car:
From the south: Take the Firenze Sud exit off the A1 Autostrada. Follow the directions toward the “Centro.” After crossing the Ponte S. Niccolò bridge over the Arno River, continue along the main boulevards toward Piazza della Libertà. (Be aware that road construction often occurs in the summer months so routing to the Piazza della Libertà can sometimes be challenging). At the piazza follow the indications to Bologna, which will take you up the Via Bolognese (SS 65) for 12 km. until you reach Pratolino (about a 20-30 minute drive). Take the right turn towards Bivigliano. The Hotel Demidoff is about 2 km. along this road on the right.
From the north: Take the Barberino di Mugello exit off the A1 Autostrada. Follow the directions toward Borgo S. Lorenzo and the Mugello Autodromo Internazionale until you reach a junction at the “località” of Novoli. There take the right turn towards Firenze (Florence) until you reach Vaglia and, after about 4 km. more, near Pratolino, turn left towards Bivigliano. The Hotel Demidoff is about 2 km. up the road on the right.
From the west: Take the Firenze Nord exit off the A1 Autostrada. Follow the highway feeder road to the Amerigo Vespucci Airport. There, follow the directions to the “Centro” and Piazza della Libertà. Be aware that road construction often occurs in the summer months so routing to the Piazza della Libertà can sometimes be challenging. At the piazza, take the right turn towards Bologna on to the Via Bolognese (SS 65) and continue for 12 km. until you reach Pratolino (about a 20-30 minute drive). Make a right turn toward Bivigliano. The Hotel Demidoff is situated about 2 km. along this road on the right.
