Student accounts of recent developments in conscious evolution, February 2006

This weekend, unlike previously, a higher state was not something we generated through the work of our time together, but was the very place we started from. And even more significantly, we were self-aware of that fact like never before—collectively seeing and acknowledging together, like a telescope turning in on itself, that we were in a higher state experience. We have never been in a higher state experience and, in the moment, actually been able to gain and hold perspective on that very fact before.

I still feel my mind is expanding as I write, blown away by the ramifications and sheer, almost-frightening clarity of it all: At every level of our development it is possible to gain perspective on our perspectives and this itself is development at another level altogether. It’s not merely moving from state to state, “losing” and “gaining” perspective with every changing emotional and psychological experience. It’s a leap beyond all of that to literally being a pioneer, seeking to map out the territory in new and uncharted terrain and then to understand it, dissect it, and make distinctions. This level of discernment, though largely a cognitive endeavour, feels itself like a spiritual practice, not so much for the movement itself but for the deepest depths of why we’re doing it.

Andrew has truly designed and built us as his students into technicians in the evolution of consciousness, on both individual and collective levels. I feel the power of cognition marrying up with the experiential conviction in these higher and deeper spiritual realms and the passion for evolution—it’s all coming together in the most beautiful, just-beginning-to-be-integrated way. I feel a different kind of confidence, not bound in experience but gained through perspective.

– Koonu (London)

As the discussion turned to the inspection of the state experience we were in, I think consciousness took a leap in the collective or intersubjective sphere we share. Suddenly we found our own self-sense disappearing, but then found it replaced with greater freedom and interest, and this seemed to both heighten the state experience, and help us appreciate it.

We started to discover that gaining perspective on the whole endeavor is the way to ratchet ourselves to greater freedom, not just for the individual but for all of us simultaneously. When something higher emerged, the movement into it was rapid and wild, releasing spontaneous periods of new insights and authentic passion. It seemed that in this release, evolution in the perspective had happened, and was being manifested as an individual’s very personal expression of their liberated self.

– Faheem (London)

The biggest learning is stretching to cultivate the Right perspective, and in that all these states of consciousness can come and go; it does not matter. We were learning to be fully aware of being in a state, and at the same time turning it in all its facets to examine it, as ourselves, in its myriad dimensions. At times it was like being in the most intense pressure and then we would “pop out” into rarified air, and we would all always still be One.

– Khin (London)

We have spent 2½ days in full engagement and exhilarating intimacy, looking, finding, investigating, wrestling, letting go, exploding, deepening, relaxing, expanding. It was challenging, heartbreaking, humbling, confronting . . . The focus on a higher goal and context accelerates our personal development in an enormous way, and our human vehicles have to catch up and let this fast speed do the work and inform what needs to be cultivated, purified, let go of, and disciplined.

While I am writing, this energy, this mysterious current, dictates its agenda, faster than I can possibly keep up with. Consciousness wants more; it just overrides everything once I make the conscious choice to let it do its work. In fully giving in this, I become that force itself. And even that recognition is surpassed.

– Margreet (Amsterdam)

I have never experienced this level of freedom with a group of women. Rather than seeking for a particular experience or feeling, it was the consistent striving for the highest perspective that freed us from the personal and each other, and seemed to reconfigure the very way we think and feel and relate. I feel like we are operating in a different dimension and I see the goal —to bring that dimension so solidly into consciousness that we live there always and, simultaneously, it becomes the next jumping off point. . .

– Katherine (Amsterdam)

In meditation tonight, I had a fleeting recognition, a glimpse of an unbelievable process. This process is one of understanding, of making sense out of life experiences, and it is happening in a vast mind and in our individual human consciousness. The process of change in consciousness, which we experience in our collective body, is literally a process of change in all of human consciousness. On levels we don’t even know, a higher intelligence is making sense out of our human experience; it is highly creative and ever-new; it is an untainted intuition, including more experience and vaster, more complex conglomerates of knowledge, to build even higher and more complex forms of understanding.
