“Unfulfilled Desires”
With Andrew Cohen on Drums
Andrew Cohen has always had a passion for music, a passion fueled by the jazz and rock greats of his youth—the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Buddy Rich, to name a few. Inspired by the electrifying performances of that era, Andrew studied and played avant-garde improvisational music in Rome with Alvin Curren, attended Boston's Berklee College of Music, and studied drums in New York with the legendary Sonny Igoe. Yet a deeper calling ultimately pulled him in an entirely different direction, and he put music aside to commit himself wholeheartedly to the
spiritual path that would lead to a life-changing transformation in 1986. Almost twenty years later, Andrew's whirlwind life as a spiritual teacher had nonetheless left him with one unfulfilled desire, the recent pursuit of which has brought him back to the drums and back on stage. The result: the jazz-funk-fusion band Unfulfilled Desires. Since 2001, Andrew's band has been rocking clubs from New York to London to Paris with a dynamic and sophisticated sound, inspiring audiences to dance and dissolve into their hypnotic rhythms. Performing many times a year in the US and Europe, “UD” has released three CDs: Punk Funk (2008), Enlightened Dog (2004), and Live at the Iron Horse (2002).
